Let $G$ be a group, and suppose that there are two identities $e,e^{\prime }\in G$. Then note that, for any $a\in G$

$$a=ae=a{e}^{\prime }$$

Multiplying on the left by $a^{-1}$ leaves

$$e=e^{\prime }$$
